Orange County Fair Brought Food, Racing, and Entertainment This Year To Middletown
Hudson Valley’s O.G. Orange County Fair
This past weekend I was able to attend the 179th Annual Orange County Fair in Middletown NY. Being very honest, I hadn’t been to this fair in many years, and it brought back a flood of memories from my early years here in the Hudson Valley. From the moment I parked in the field overlooking the Fairgrounds and Speedway, heard the roar of the engines on the track, and the crowds, it reminded me so much of the great times enjoying concerts, racing, and the Orange County Fair.

Orange County Fair in Middletown NY Highlights:
Fair Midway :
As I stepped into the Fairgrounds, going through the ticket booth, there was a lot of excitement. The promoters of the Fair had announced a $10,000 prize for one lucky Saturday attendee to help break and celebrate the record for attendance. The lines for tickets stretched out as families prepared to spend an afternoon checking out the rides and games along the Fair’s Midway.
Camel and Pony Rides, Redneck Warriors, Cow Town USA, and the Gator Boys Road Show were just some of the things you could find along the mid-way!
Food, Food, and Food:
It’s a fair, so of course Fried Dough and Funnel Cakes, Gyro’s, Fresh Lemonade and Fresh Cut Fries amongst many other treats were available to pick up. Wine Slushies and a Craft Beer area also served the crowds.
And those Turkey Legs are Smoking!
Entertainment:
Music was available, both with free shows at the Pavillion Stage area, as well as at night in the Stadium Stage, with headliners like the POP 2000 Tour , Shooter Jennings, and Lou Gramm with Asia.
Exotic Animals, Extreme Jousting and the Motorcycle Globe of Death awaited the fairgoers, giving lots of free entertainment along the way.
Racing:
Dirt Track Racing, Motocross Racing, as well as Monster Trucks and Tractor Pulls were also there to entertain the masses. The dust was flying, but it was strangely familiar and made me feel at home in Middletown.
Speaking of races, I know this was on the mid-way, but if you didn’t get a chance to check out the miniature version of the Orange County Dirt Track and the remote control cars on them, you can come back during the race season and see what the buzz is about!
