The Castle Fun Center: Where Hudson Valley Kids Of All Ages Play!

The Castle Fun Center Video

A Center of Fun, Year-Round In Orange County

Racing, Axe Throwing and a Day at the Midway!

When Brian and Alison Leentjes put a shovel into a track of land in Chester, NY to start a driving range filling a local gap, little did they know they would start the foundation for what would today become The Castle Fun Center, a year-round indoor and outdoor family fun destination, in the heart of Orange County NY.

From its inception in the early 90’s to today, this local community-driven couple has invested repeatedly into the local attraction. Ensuring that it can add a day of fun for the entire family, including birthdays, events, or a corporate day of laser tag and go-kart racing to build the team! From indoor activities, including the most recent addition Axe Throwing, to its seasonal outdoor entertainment, like classic Go-Kart Races (yup plural, see below) and most recently a Midway and Zip Line this is a place to go and make family memories.

Instead of admission, parents load a Castle Card that kids (of all ages) swipe and play their hearts out. Open year-round check their hours on their website to make sure you can maximize your time there. Parents can take a little break as well, besides the inside food area to sit and have a snack, there is also a Pub and plenty of places to watch as our kids exhaust themselves! Finally, this link to the Facility Map will show where everything can be found ( the facility is wheelchair accessible, as well) and make sure to check out their Discounts page to see about specials (like 1/2 price times and Free Bonus Points when activating a card)!

The Castle Highlights:

Indoor Play Area :

Indoors the Arcade, Laser Tag, Laser Maze, and 10,000 square foot Skating Rink brings a sense of nostalgia back to my late 80’s childhood (Stranger Things, hmmm!). Not to limit the choices , but an indoor children’s play area called Ballocity, Rock Climbing Wall and Indoor Free Fall will also keep your heart rate up (or like me keeping up with my kids!). And there are new activities like…

Axe Throwing (New!):

Sign a waiver and you can enjoy Axe Throwing at one of 3 indoor targets. Reservations are recommended and a minimum age of 14 is required (amongst some other rules, check out the page for more here). Fun for a group, my daughters had a blast and I might be a little scared about their accuracy!

Outdoor Play Area:

As I mentioned above, besides standard Go Karts, they also have a Mini Indy Racing for smaller children and Slick Track for the bigger kids like me. Adding a Midway recently as well has allowed The Castle to have a Carnival feel (without having to wait all year for the Orange County Fair!) with rides like Dragon Frenzy 360, Dragon Coaster and Spin Zone Bumper Cars. Mini Golf (and a Driving Range) are also a blast, but for the thrill seeker the recently added…

Zip Line (New):

Taking a Zip Line with a 130 foot high view of the area is just another new attraction to showcase how special this place is. Take a buddy along and plunge 700 feet at 30 MPH screaming towards the Indoor complex. It is seasonal though so check it out Spring to Fall (of course weather permitting!).

Plan a Day of Fun!

Plan a day of fun for the family at The Castle Fun Center and head to Chester NY! Of course don’t miss some of the other family-friendly locations nearby as well, like the 19th century historically accurate Museum Village, the Goshen Harness Racing Museum or even a walk through beautiful Warwick with over 100 acres of active parklands and various festivals (like the annual Warwick’s Applefest)!

Even 2 Ramblin’ Hudson Valley visited episodes are close, Monroe Ponds in Monroe, and yummy comfort food, Mix N MAC in Middletown, both only 15 minutes away.
